A lawyer is either a social engineer or he’s a parasite on society. … A social engineer is a highly skilled, perceptive, sensitive lawyer who understands the Constitution of the United States and knows how to explore its uses in the solving of problems of . . . local communities and in bettering conditions of the underprivileged citizens.

You can help the vulnerable who have been falling through the cracks, because they can’t qualify for free legal aid, but still can’t afford standard Attorney prices.
Providing affordable and high-quality services to people of limited means can mean the difference between justice for some and justice for all. Attorneys play a major role in our system of civil justice. Your involvement can serve as one of the most rewarding experiences in your career.
Once you Join!
Once you agree to join our panel of Attorneys, you will create a profile that tells CLA the types of cases you’re willing to take, the counties you’re willing to serve, you can switch from inactive (not available for cases) to active (available to take on cases) at anytime. You can also access our screened client list and choose from a list of approved clients.
Benefits
CLA is dedicated to giving back to the Attorneys who join our panel. Because of the services they provide to those in need, we also believe in supporting them.
When you join, you will get referrals to help broaden your practice. CLA is also working on programs to reduce your overhead, such as research and paralegal services, and mentorship opportunities.
Other Benefits
- Gaining exposure, experience, and generating income. This is particularly applicable to solo practitioners, and attorneys and firms expanding their practice to other areas of the law.
- These programs, often called “low bono,” reduce the amount of pro se litigants, benefiting the court’s infrastructure.
- Participation is considered pro bono public service, fulfilling the Arkansas bar requirement of pro bono service per year for participating attorneys. In 2005, the Arkansas Supreme Court modified Arkansas Rule of Professional Conduct Rule 6.1 to include an aspirational goal of 50 hours of pro bono service per year. The new Rule clarified the types of cases and clients that qualify as pro bono assistance.
